LLM-B Clan moving on to FM10
« on: January 19, 2010, 01:41:27 PM »
DarthPaul, daf and I have all been enjoying our time in Switzerland immensely, but we have decided that it would be right to go with the times and re-start the clan using FM10.  It should be noted that we won't be doing this for a few weeks as DP has just had a promotion and I would like to give him the chance of getting into Europe (or being relegated  :) ), and then possibly a European campaign after that!

This thread is basically just to gather any interest in joining our clan, as with 3 of us we are currently reliant on everyone turning up every week at the moment.  We have decided that we will be playing in Scotland this year, as none of us (I believe) have managed north of the border as yet, and starting in the Scottish division 3. The main consideration to take into account here is that we are asking for only fully fledged LLaMas to apply.

So, if you're a LLaMa and interested in playing an online game of FM10, post in this thread and we will see about getting you into our clan.

We do our best to play from 8pm-midnight GMT on Monday evenings.

It's an idea......but I'd need a new laptop running windows. At the moment I use a netbook with Ubuntu and for the life of me I can't get it to run FM. I think it direct X issues but.......

I'd really love to join this however Monday is one of my darts nights. Now if you were to play on a Tuesday or Wednesday I would be in for sure.

Well, funny you should say that, because I have just received a text from my captain saying that from the end of February our cricket nets are going to be on a Monday night, so we will have to change the night for at least 6 weeks anyway.

Unfortunately my game time flexibility gets severely hampered in the cricket season because I am out coaching at least 1 night a week, have senior nets another night (usually Thursday) and play midweek cricket once a week too. Obviously Saturdays and Sundays I'm out playing matches as well!

Anyway, are you a good darts player, and will we be seeing you playing at the Lakeside in a couple of years?

Not too bad, not good enough to play at Lakeside just yet! Although we had our presentation night last night and my team picked up league winners trophies and I picked up the highest inshot of 160.

You a batsman or bowler? Or do you keep wicket?

I may be up for a return to the clan again, especially as it'll be a few weeks before kickoff...

Fidsy back to kick our arses \o/

I'm an opening bat/'keeper. I had a strange season last year. With the bat I scored two tons and 2 fifties in 2 weeks, and then hardly scored a run for the rest of the season  ;D

My glovework was the best it's ever been, and I almost went back to my old club in the Birmingham League because I feel so confident, but the travelling is just too much.

160 outshot  :o, that's really pretty good! Is that a one-off or can you make ton-plus outs regularly?

It depends really, played Sunday night and I took out 101 and 110, other nights I wouldn't be able to hit a barn door with a banjo, I seem to be very hot and cold.

Well it would depend on how many of us there are and what the game speed is like, really. Provided there aren't more than 8 of us, I don't see why not.

I used TightVNC and big_evil uses something, but my works bandwidth is so shit I gave up  ;D

It works pretty well, but you do need good broadband speeds to not miss anything, as when at my work place I couldn't make subs unless it was an injury/sending off or half time because what I was seeing had happened about 30 seconds before :)

I use LogMeIn, it's a web based app and you need to install it first on your PC, but as Keefa said before if your internet speed is slow then it becomes a bit of a pain using it. LogMeIn is much easier to set up and log into, but UltraVNC (which I'm guessing is similar to TightVNC) does sometimes work better but the issue there can be accessing your PC isn't always easy.

By far the best way would be some form of remote desktop but I think your PC would need to be connected to whichever network you are connecting from, usually through a VPN connection.

Another piece of software that might be worth a try is Radmin, short for Remote Administrator.

I've not used GoToMyPC, although at work I have used GoToMeeting to connect to India and USA at the same time and had no issues at all with that, but then our internet at work is really quick.

Is LogMeIn totally free? The website doesn't seem to explain it very well.

There are paid options that offer more functionality, but the free version is just fine for logging in and using your PC

I have been mucking about with Gotomypc this morning. It was going fairly well, I'm only in pre-season but I had carried out a couple of transfers and played a couple of friendlies (the matches where a bit lagged but I could manage). It all went pear shaped when my PC at home lost connection  :@ I'm now sitting at work bored to tears. I may have to play my DS.

Anyway, had a look at my shift rota last night and I generally work nights once or ocaasionally twice a month so if I'm able to join the game I wouldn't be away from my pc too often.

Can the game be continued without all players present?

Yeah, of course. You would just need to set your AssMan to do what you want him too, as the game basically puts you on holiday when you're not there

Just so you all know, we'll probably not be moving over for a few weeks (an estimate would be end of February), as a season can take some time depending on contract negotitations/signings/my Hamachi connection etc.

:bump:

Okay, we're starting this clan game next week (w/c 15th March), so if any of you are interested in joining us, let me know. To start with we are going to be quite flexible on which nights we play, but we will be moving back to Mondays in April.

Just a reminder that we will be playing in Scotland, starting in division 3, and the teams drawn so far are:

keefa - Montrose
daf - Forfar Athletic
DarthPaul - Elgin City
rodderas - East Stirlingshire
big_evil - Annan Athletic

Yeah I'm up for it but like i've said before I do work shifts so I may miss some weeks. It will probably only be one week a month that I'm on nights. Is that a problem?

Also I've never joined a network game before so I'll need help. Instructions for dummies  :)
